PhysioNet is a UK based charity set up in 2004 which is dedicated to helping some of the most marginalised people in the world by supplying children and adults with disability equipment considered surplus or redundant in the UK. PhysioNet has made over 100 shipments to 27 countries including Ukraine, Moldova, South Africa, Syria, Zimbabwe, India, Bhutan and Mexico. The charity has been awarded the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service.
Since 2022, our Rotary club members have been joining with Rotarians from other local Rotary clubs to volunteer to help PhysioNet at the local PhysioNet depot near Slimbridge, Gloucestershire. Several times a month we help sort, clean, mend and package mobility equipment that would otherwise have been sent to landfill. Instead, the equipment is loaded into shipping containers and sent overseas to help some of the poorest and neediest adults and children with disabilities all over the world. Nothing is more rewarding than the feeling of achievement and camaraderie we get out of this project, knowing that it will make such a difference to others.

Rotarians worldwide support projects that provide training and skill development for young people. Bristol Rotary Club organise a raft of Rotary Youth competitions for students from local schools, sometimes collaborating with other local Rotary clubs for this.

Rotary’s End Polio Now campaign is one of the most remarkable humanitarian achievements of our time. Since launching the Global Polio Eradication Initiative in 1985, Rotary members have helped reduce polio cases by 99.9% worldwide, delivering vaccines to billions of children, raising over $2.1 billion, and tirelessly advocating for government and global health support.
