Youth Projects

Rotarians worldwide support projects that provide training and skill development for young people. Bristol Rotary Club organise a raft of Rotary Youth competitions for students from local schools, sometimes collaborating with other local Rotary clubs for this.

Rotarians the world over get involved in projects to support training and skill development of young people.  Bristol Rotary Club members do this through involvement in the organisation of a raft of Rotary Youth competitions for students from local schools, sometimes on our own or often in collaboration with Rotarians from other local Rotary clubs:

Young Musician – a competition for school children 13-18 who are Grade 7 standard or above performing on any instrument or singing.  Heats are held in November and a Final in January at the Bristol Beacon.  www.youngmusicianbristol.com
Youth Speaks - A Debate - a competition for Junior and Senior teams of 3 speakers from local schools who compete in a competition in November.
Young Chef – a competition for individuals to plan and prepare a 3-course meal for 2 people and present it to the judges.
Technology Tournament - a competition held at the end of the school year requiring teams of students to apply their knowledge of STEM subjects to solve a specific design & construction challenge.
Young Photographer - a competition for 11-17 year olds to submit photographs on a given theme issued each July.  Photographs need to be submitted by November.
Winners of local competitions are supported to progress to regional heats and then national finals.  We have had several winners of National finals in the past.
Other Youth projects which enable our members to volunteer their time include:
Days Out for disadvantaged children such as to Cattle Country in Gloucestershire
Mock interviews at several different local schools, giving Year 9 & 10 students their first taste of being interviewed and giving feedback on how they can improve their interview technique for the future.

If you are interested in any of these activities, please contact the Bristol Rotary Club through this website.
